Murten

Cycling in Switzerland is fantastic with excellent scenery and plenty of variety, with hills, lakes, forests, you name it you have it all. Well as I have cycled to Thun and back I thought it time to try Murten. As the weekend weather was hot, around 28’ then I thought it was perfect weather for a nice Sunday cycle, accompanied by my buddy Arif. So we set out from Bern, followed the official cycle routes, with the map I bought early, and off we went. We went the village route out on the 34 and returned the river side up the 44, across to the 94 and back on the 8. All in all it was around 60klm and I arrived home knackered, but with a nice sun tan. Here are some pictures of the journey.

No April showers!

Well what can I say; I have not written my blog for a month, what a disgrace! Anyway April did not bring the usual showers but instead lovely warm weather that is not typical for this time of year. So out with the summer shorts, the suntan lotion and enjoy. I thought this would be a one week wonder, but no, it has lasted throughout April and across most of Europe. But the opposite can be said for the US as they have been suffering big time with bad weather, lightening storms and cold weather in the southern and western parts which are normally quite warm. Mm, is this global warming, or just strange cycles which are not uncommon, or what? Maybe the summer will be way too hot and up into the 40's as April should not be up to 30' but then let's wait and see... So what did I do in April you may ask? Well besides work, my regular Pilates, cycling, eating and sleeping and a spot of dating, not too much.

Mountains and Mole hills

Why or why do we make a mountain out off a mole hill? I’m referring to the latest saga with the Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and the kiss from Richard Gere. Was this an act of indecency in public? Well I don’t think so (although this is my opinion), and if anyone is guilty surely this is Richard Gere (the kisser). Although I would like to have also kisses Shilpa as I think she is wonderful. Maybe this was a little inappropriate as Richard did seem to get a little carried away, but he was only kissing her on the cheek for goodness sake. The Bollywood movies, which I’ve seen a few (having dated an Indian girl), are all about love and kissing aren’t they, so arn't these promoting the KISS? So why do certain Indian groups want to take this to the Supreme Court to charge Shilpa with indecency, after all she was the innocent party, was she not? And with all the trouble in the world, see my previous blog report, why are we making something so trivial into a drama? Maybe this is publicity for a new movie??? Anyway for a country and people I have great respect and admiration for don’t let something so silly create such a big fuss, especially with the burning of effigies in India, which to me is far worse.
